So MUN stands for "Model United Nations" and BERMUN is just "Berlin Model United Nations". (OL->Oldenburg)
So MUN is like the real UN. If you take part in MUN you have to represent a foreign country. You have to inform yourself about everything because you will be a "delegate" of this country.
You have to wear suits and there exist many rules.
You will be part of one of up to eight different committes. In each of this committees will be debated about different but important topics like disarmament(DC) or HIV/AIDS (HRC).
Every delegate has to prepare a resolution with some preambulatory clauses and of course operative clauses.
At the lobbying you have to merge your resolutions and you need 15 signs ( NGOs and Official Observers just need 10 signs) otherwise the committee would not debate about your resolution. During the debate every delegate tries to improve the resolution and after the guillotine time has elapsed every delegation has to vote in favour or against the resolution except the NGOs and OOs.
This was just a short overview. ;) But MUN is just fun. (Well, you need to speak english very well...) -
